Abstract

Fibrous dysplasia is a benign developmental disorder of the skeletal system in which normal bone marrow is replaced by fibroosseous tissue. Bone scintigraphy is a sensitive imaging modality for detecting early lesions and poliostotic involvement in fibrous dysplasia. Bone scan demonstrates multiple areas of focally or diffusely increased activity accumulation involving mainly long bones, pelvic bones, ribs, and craniofacial bones. We describe the findings of the three-phase bone scan performed using Tc-99m MDP (technetium-99m methylene diphosphonate) and the radiographs in a case wth poliostotic fibrous dysplasia who was previously diagnosed as monostotic fibrous dysplasia.

Key words: Poliostotic fibrous dysplasia, bone scintigraphy, Tc-99m MDP.
