Abstract

Objectives: To determine the resistance to flouroquinolones among the methicillin resistant staphylococcus (MRS) strains.

Material and Methods: The susceptibility test for 117 methicillin resistant staphylococcus (MRS) strains isolated from pus, blood, urine and other sterile b ody fluids of hospitalized patients was performed by disk diffusion method.

Results: The resistance rates were 62% for levofloxacin, 70% for ciprofloxacin, 76% for norfloxacin and ofloxacin among MRS.

Conclusion: These results should be taken into account for the empirical fluoroquinolones treatment.

Key words: Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus, Flouroquinolones, Resistance.
