Ureteral Injuries During Gynecologic And Obstetric Procedures

Abstract


 

Although most of ureteral injuries may occur due to iatrogenic reasons, about 75% of injuries result from gynecologic operations. Of these, about three fourths of ureteral injuries occur during an abdominal gynecologic procedure, and about one fourth occur during a vaginal intervention. Desp ite hysterectomy being the major cause of the ureteral injuries, almost any gynecologic operation can result in ureteral injury.
