Abstract
Blood cultures referred in to The Microbiology Laboratory of İnönü University The Faculty of Medicine have been studied, E.coli strains were selected. Antibiotic susceptibilities and Extended Spectrum β-Lactamase(ESBL) production were determined with Phoenix 100 BD system between 01-05-2005- 01 03 2006. In this study, antibiograms of E.coli strains, ESBL ratio and disturbution of ESBL positive and negative cultures according to the services and policlinics were studied. The catheter and the CFS samples in BACTEC bottles were eliminated. We found 55 E.coli strains and 19 of them were ESBL positive (34.5%).
