Abstract

Infective endocarditis (IE) is virtually always a fatal disease in case of untreated patients. The present study reports on clinical features and postmortem histopathologic results of a fatal case of a twenty-three year old man with IE who was previously prediagnosed as meningitis due to neck stiffness and fever but expired owing to multiple systemic emboli. The report also emphasises not to forget IE in etiology of systemic embolies in young patients.

Key Words: Endocarditis; Vegetation; Septic Emboli.
