The increase in negative intrathoracic pressure due to upper airway obstruction after postextubation laryngospasm may cause pulmonary edema. The probable mechanism is pulmonary edema and alveolar hemorrhage related laryngospasm and high negative pressure during respiratory effort due to glottic obstruction. This presentation concludes a case of pulmonary edema following acute upper airway obstruction in a young patient.
