Aim: In our clinic, evaluation of the results of patients applied due to canalicus obstruction.
Materials and Methods: Among the patients with the complaint of epifora consulting our clinic in between the dates of March 2006 and December 2009, 17 eyes of 17 cases applied canaliculodacryocystorhinostomy were taken in the area of study. Clinic information of patients was checked as retrospective. Before the operation, general ophthalmologic examinations of patients were done. Closure dynamics of eyelids and anatomy and position of punctum were determined by examination. Contrast dacryocystography with lipiodol (DGS) was taken. Continuity of passage was checked in lavage done by physiological serum. Level of obstruction was found with prob.
Findings: In all cases applied operation of canaliculodacryocystorhinostomy, there were total obstruction or tightness of distal extremity of common canaliculus. Saccus was not displayed in all cases and DGS. Thirteen (76,47%) of patients in the extensive of study were female and 4 of them were male. The time of prosecution were 22,4 months (3-45 months) avarage. For all patients, silicone tube was used to provide the continuity of passage. Previously, 3 (17,64%) of cases experienced an unsuccessfull operation of dacryocystorhinostomy. In 1 (%5,88) patient, irritation matured against silicon tube. According to the result of prosecution, for 16 (94,17%) of patients, the results were successfull, for 1 (5,88%) of them, it was unsuccessfull.
Conclusion: Operation of canaliculodacryocystorhinostomy is an effective and reliable treatment method applied for suitable patients having the problem of canalicule obstruction.
