Abstract

In this study, we aimed to investigate antimicrobial patterns of 173 Staphylococcus aureus strains isolated from several clinic samples of hospitalized patients in Central Microbiology Laboratory, Inonu University Turgut Ozal Medical Center, within one year. The antibiotic susceptibilities of the strains were evaluated by the disk diffusion method according to the recommendations of the CLSI. Of the 173 strains, 63 (%36.4) were methicillin resistant (MRSA). The resistance rates of MRSA and MSSA strains were found as follows, respectively, ciprofloxasin 66.6% and 5.45%, gentamicin 41.3% and 8.2%, erithromycin 58.7% and 6.4%, trimetophrim-sulfamethoxazole 20.6% and 1.8%, clindamycin 36.5% and 6.4%, rifampin 61.9% and 15.5%. All strains were sensitive to vancomycin and teicoplanin.

Key words: Staphylococcus aureus, Antimicrobial Resistance
