Objective: Stroke is the third leading cause of death and one of the most important causes of long-term disability. In our study, the aim is to identify the risk factors that cause ischemic stroke to determine the risk of stroke in the presence of multiple risk factors.
Materials and Methods: In this study, a total of 260 patients were examined; 120 of these patients were, as the patient group, diagnosed with ischemic stroke in the emergency department, and 140 of them constituted the control group. Data concerning physical examination results and medical history including previous history of cerebrovascular disease (CVD), coronary artery disease (CAD), diabetes mellitus (DM), hypertension (HT), atrial fibrillation (AF), and smoking, were obtained. High density lipoprotein (HDL), international normalized ratio (INR), C-reactive protein (CRP), protein C, protein S, antithrombin III (AT3) levels were measured.
