Pinworms in appendix causing acute appendicitis

Abstract

Acute appendicitis is the most common surgical emergency worldwide making emergency appendectomy most common operation being performed worldwide. Pinworms are the most common helminthes seen inside lumen of appendix. Although parasite infestations are rare cause of acute appendicitis they must be borne in mind in children for systemic eradication.
