ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AND ANALGESIC ACTIVITY OF MAJOON-E-AZARAQI - AN UNANI FORMULATION

Abstract
Majoon-e-Azaraqi is an Unani preparation consisting of fourteen ingredients. It is mainly used in arthritis gout, paralysis, sciatica and neuralgia. The present study includes the anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity of the aqueous extract of the Majoon-e-Azaraqi. The extract showed a significant anti-inflammatory activity on Carrageenin induced paw oedema and cotton pellet granuloma in rats at a dose of 500 mg/100 gm. body weight. The extract also showed significant analgesic activity.
