Effect of Crataeva nurvala Lour on serum as well as urinary electrolytes on experimental albino rats has been studied. Urine and blood of experimental animals was collected and the water intake, urine output and urinary pH in 24 hours was measured. Experimentally vasical calculus were produced by implanting glass beads in urinary bladder of animals. The size and growth of stone was assessed. Serum as well as urinary electrolytes in treated and control group were compared during study. The whole study is divided in two parts viz. pre-experimental and experimental study. The pre-experimental values of serum and urinary electrolytes were considered as standard values for the study. The progress of stone formation in urinary bladder was assessed by studying the x-rays. It was observed that the drug Crataeva nurvala prevented the stone formation due to its antilithogenic activity, anti crystallization property as well as its diuretic action. So it can be concluded that the Crataeva nurvala is helpful to prevent the deposition of crystals on implanted glass beads in urinary bladder in experimental animals.
