Assessment of the chemical properties of agricultural land is always essential prior to its use for crop production. In view of that, this study was carried out to ascertain the concentrations of some chemical properties in the study area with a view to provide appropriate management recommendations for sustainable crops production in the area.. Soil samples were analyzed for following the standard procedures. The study revealed that the soils were medium in CEC (7.84cmol(+)kg-1) with moderate PBS (44.80%). Based on the concentration of Ca (1.94cmol(+)kg-1) and Mg(1.26cmol(+)kg-1), the soils of the study area may require no addition of any of these two elements. However, based on the effects of Ca/Mg ratio, soils of Argungu, Birnin Kebbi and Bunza local government areas would have the problem of Ca up take by the growing plants due to cationic imbalance. Therefore, to help the situation, leaching and drainage should be encouraged to avoid salt build up. . based on the levels of these parameters, the soil could be classified as medium to high in fertility and therefore good for crop production under good management practice. The soil have potential risk of being highly acidic due to reasonable concentration of exchangeable acidity (H and A) of 2.07 cmol(+)kg-1 in comparism to exchangeable base such as Ca, Mg, K and Na. liming materials could be applied to arrest the situation.The study revealed medium concentration of exchangeable Na (0.18 cmol(+)kg-1 In view of that, farmers could be advised to ensure proper tillage to avoid its further accumulation.
