The present study is focused qualitatively on the predominance of red marine algae (67 species '3 varieties' and 40 genera). Five of them are recorded for the first time at the study area as new records. Semi-regular visits for many chosen sampling stations during 2007 - 2009, for collections at the wide coasts of Benghazi city (about 18 Km.) which characterized by many sandy, rocky, straight and curved coasts. Acrosorium, Ceramium, Chondria, Dasya, Gastroclonium, Jania, Laurencia and Polysiphonia were the most dominant red algal flora of the studied area. The comparison with previous studies gives an indication of progressive increase of red algal flora year after year at Benghazi coasts.
