Investigation the Perceived Social Support Levels of Pregnants With Hyperemesis Gravidarum

Abstract

AIM: Social support is important that person’s physical and psychological health in maintaining. Therefore, this research was performed to determine the level of social support in pregnant women diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum.
METHOD: The study consisted of pregnant women with diagnosis of hyperemezis gravidarum in Obstetric Department of one state hospital and one university hospital. The sample group consisted of a random sample of 119 pregnant women. Data were collected with a questionnaire to determine the pregnants’ descriptive and obstetrics characteristics and The Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support. The data were analyzed with SPSS.
RESULTS: 71.4% of the pregnant women were in the 20-29 age group, 65.6% of them was graduated of primary school. The avarege of the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support Scale of the pregnant women was 60.87±13.04. Multidimensional scale of perceived social support of pregnant, total average score of special human subdimension were higher than the average of family and friend subscale scores.
CONCLUSION: The pregnant women who were taken for this study, social support level was found well.
