Relationship between demographic characteristics and motivational factors among healthcare providers at a secondary care hospital in Karachi, Pakistan

Abstract

Objective: To investigate the potential effect among gender regarding salary, recognition, rewards and other potential benefits, and job title on motivation, recognizing the ability to introduce distinct patterns within the medical profession.
Methodology: This cross-sectional study used convenience sampling technique and was caried out from July 2022 and January 2023. The study included healthcare professionals such as doctors, nurses, and paramedics and data were gathered using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS software.
Results: The salary, acknowledgment, job challenges, and rewards were important motivators for healthcare workers. The gender had no significant effect on these motivational factors, but educational background played a significant role.
Conclusion: The motivation of employees is essential for the efficient functioning of healthcare institutions and the delivery of high-quality services. This motivation is reinforced by a challenging job, job recognition, reward, financial incentives, and other benefits.
