I am reporting a case of spontaneous intraperitoneal rupture of urinary bladder in an inpatient admitted for ethanol abuse, presenting as diffuse generalized peritonitis. Preoperative diagnosis was difficult. CT abdomen and pelvis was misleading, and the final diagnosis was reached on exploration of the abdomen. Perioperative and postoperative recovery was uneventful.
Key words: Generalized peritonitis, Spontaneous intraperitoneal bladder rupture, Alcohol consumption, raised levels of serum urea and creatinine
