Background: CrossFit is a workout emphasizing successive ballistic motions to build strength and endurance.
Aims: To determine if any characteristics of the participant or the training would influence the risk of shoulder injuries.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in Saudi Arabia. The duration will be from August 2021 to September 2021. We will use self-administered online questionnaires. The study included Saudis above 18 years old and excluded shoulder injuries before CrossFit training.
Results: Out of the 715 who participated in the study, 197 (38.1%) participants were female, while 320 (61.9%) were male. Two of three participants said that this injury happened during a CrossFit championship. The diagnosis of the injury varied between inflammation and general pain (33.3%), overuse of the joint (33.3%), and partial rotator cuff (33.3%).
Conclusion: We found that the most common cause of the injury was wrong movement during the training. Furthermore, all injured participants either stopped or had to adjust their training, consequently. Trainers should be appointed to monitor the trainee’s movements and avoid injuries.
