Drug misused

Abstract

Background: Drug misuse is a global problem that is referred to as the use of drugs inaccurately for large doses and long duration. Drug misuse is associated with depression, anxiety, and specific characteristics of psychopathological behavior. The aim of this study was to discuss the stages, epidemiology, symptoms, and consequences of drug misuse as well as highlight the drug abuse in Saudi Arabia.
Methods: Several articles were included for this review. The selected articles were obtained through online research.
Results: A total of 13 articles met our inclusion criteria to write the current review; the review is written under subheadings in the discussion part.
Conclusion: Drug addiction is a global issue; it has several consequences and affects the individuals, families, community, and the economy of the countries. Increasing awareness among individuals and patients should be established.
