Abstract | Download PDF | | Post | Aim of this study was to determine the nosocomial infection prevalence and related factors in Atatürk Universty Medical Faculty Yakutiye and Aziziye Hospitals. Nosocomial infections were determined by surveillance system dependent labarotory and clinic observation. The rate of nosocomial infections in 2005 year was detected to be 1.8 %. The highest hospital infection rates were detected in intensive care unit (41.0 %) and prematurity clinic (13.4 %). Surgical site infections were detected as the most common nosocomial infection 22.0 % ratio followed by urinary tract infections with 19.9 % ration and bacteremia with 18.5 %. The most frequently isolated microorganisms were coagulase (-) Staphylococcus aureus (23.4 %) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (17.1 %). Antibiotics isolated gram negative bacteries are susceptible to highest ratio are amicacin and carbapenems.
