Antimicrobial Activity, Antioxidant Potential and Phytochemical Constituents of Tinospora cordifolia (Giloya): A Review

Tinospora cordifolia (Willd.) Miers ex Hook. F. & Thomson (Giloya) is a medicinal climbing shrub extensively used in the Indian Ayurvedic system. The present review includes a comprehensive study of the in vitro antimicrobial activity, antioxidant potential, and phytochemical constituents of Giloya from research articles from 2000-2022. Data has been collected from different websites like Mendeley, Google Scholar, Academia, Researchgate.net, etc. A thorough study of research papers revealed that the T. cordifolia plant contains different phytochemicals, exhibiting good antioxidant potential and significant antimicrobial activities.

Key words: Guduchi, Antibacterial, Antifungal, Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS).
