This paper attempts to evaluate the relationship between economic theory and new econometric approaches. By focusing upon methodologies of recent econometric approaches, I discuss the criticisms of these approaches and role of economic theory in new econometric methodology. Furthermore, new econometric methodology is approached through the perspective of Popperian philosophy of science.
