The synthesis of some mono azo acid dyes derived from 2-amino-4-nitrothiazole was carried out using four derivatives of naphthol and 1-(4-sulfophenyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone as the coupling components. The dyes were characterized by IR spectral studies, visible absorption spectroscopy and melting point determination. The electronic absorption spectra cover a λmax range 400-565nm in DMF at the absorption intensity between 1.30 x 104 7.63 x 104 LMol-1CM-1. The dyeing properties of these dyes was assessed at 2% depth on nylon fibre. The dyes were found to give a wide range of colour shade varying from maroon red to green with very good depth, brightness and levelness. The dyed fibre showed good fastness to washing and very good fastness to light. The dyebath exhaustion and fixation of the dyes on the fibre was found to be excellent
