Effectiveness of intervention program on nurses' practices about nursing care plan of patients Post Transsphenoidal Hypophysectomy

Abstract

Objective: To determine the effectiveness of the interventional program on nurses' practices toward nursing care plan of patients post transsphenoidal hypophysectomy.
Methodology: A quasi-experimental study was carried out with the use of pre-test and post-test approach during the period 23th of January 2022 to 6th of March 2023. A Non-Probability purposive sample of 40 nurses working at Ghazi Al-Hariri Hospital for Surgical Specialties was selected. An educational program through the use of practice checklist including 62 items concerning nurses' practices toward nursing care plan of patient post transsphenoidal hypophysectomy in ICU and neurosurgical ward was administered. Pre and post test were done to assess the effectiveness.
Results: Pre-test score of 1.20 changed to 2.24 in post-test There was a highly significant difference in the overall practices scores of the study sample throughout two measurement periods (pre- and post-test) with a p-value of less than 0.05.
Conclusions: Study found that organizing a nursing education program can be a crucial way for nurses who work in intensive care units and neurosurgical ward to advance their knowledge and expertise in nursing care of patients after transsphenoidal hypophysectomy.
