EVALUATION OF HIV/AIDS KNOWLEDGE LEVEL AMONG PRIVATES İN TWO MILITARY UNIT IN ANKARATayfun,KIR,,*, Selim,KILIÇ,,, Recai,OĞUR,,, Muharrem,UÇAR,,, Metin,HASDE,. Abstract | | | | HIV/AIDS has an increasing importance. One of most effective methods to prevent it is education, which is aimed to prevent risky behaviors. To ensure this, education needs should be known. In this study, evaluation of knowledge level was aimed to describe needs of education, which will be given to privates. This descriptive study was realized in privates who were serving in two military units in February-March 2004. Data were collected using questionnaires, designed by researchers. All participants were male. Mean age of those was 24.3+2.7. The mean of correct answer is 19,13,3 of 24 question and minimum and maximum numbers of correct answers were 7 and 24. The means of correct answers in the participants who were married, experienced sexual intercourse, reported that their knowledge on AIDS were not enough was higher than the others. The mean of correct answer increased from village to city, from lower education level to higher. The mean was same in the participants from West, South, Central, and North demographic regions but lower in those from East. Also that was higher in those who have more income than those who have less income. In participant privates, there is knowledge gap on basic subjects related with HIV/AIDS transmission. This gap may cause risk taking related with HIV/AIDS transmission. These subjects should be given priority in educations, which are to give correct knowledge to privates and to prevent HIV/AIDS transmission.
