Abstract
Emotions are the foundations for creativity, passion, optimism, desire and transformation. Emotional Intelligence is a concept in psychology that describes the ability to recognize and evaluate one’s own feelings and those of others as well as the ability to deal with them. Several studies has revealed that Emotional Intelligence influences Teacher Effectiveness of individuals. . This study is about understanding the relationship of Emotional Intelligence and teacher effectiveness among teachers in academic sectors. The study aims to determine the level of Emotional Intelligence and teacher effectiveness and investigate the gender difference among teachers of Higher Educational Institutions. The study includes 300 teachers of Management and Engineering Department of Higher Educational Institutions from different districts of Uttarakhand. The study highlights that the sample population reflects higher level of Emotional Intelligence among teachers of Higher Educational Institution. Further the study shows that there is significant differences in Emotional Intelligence among male and female sample populations. Similarly, the significant differences in teacher effectiveness is found among male and female teachers of Engineering and Management Department. Hence the present study may provide a better insight into individual’s emotional development and psycho-educational intervention on individual’s emotional balance which might indirectly influence their success in career and family life.
