Abstract

The Cover of the current issue of the Sudanese Journal of Paediatrics (SJP) pays tribute to the late Professor Hassan Mohammed Ahmed Ali, Member of the Editorial Board of SJP, whom we lost recently following COVID-19 infection. His photo overlays the pyramids of the Napta/Meroitic Kingdom (800BC–350AD), depicting the heritage of Sudan and its civilization (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mero%C3%AB). Also shown is the Meroitic script, the indigenous alphabet consisting of 23 letters, which has been developed in the Naptan Period at about 700–300BC. The Arabic script of the ‘Sudanese Journal of Paediatrics’, reflecting the current main language and culture, was designed at the College of Fine and Applied Arts, Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST), by Taha El Atta, PhD.

Key words: Sudan, heritage, pediatrics
