Objective: To find the prevalence of neck pain and its contributing factors among ophthalmologists of Faisalabad.
Methodology: This cross-sectional survey was conducted using non-probability purposive sampling and included 82 ophthalmologists from five hospitals of Faisalabad. The participants were within the age range of 25 to 50 years. A self-made questionnaire was used having different items about body region, onset, duration, intensity, and frequency of pain, as well as consideration of posture while performing surgeries. The data analysis was carried out using SPSS 21.
Results: Out of 82 participants, 68 (82.9%) were male and 14 (17.1%) females. Overall, 64.85% of surgeons suffered from neck pain. There was a significant association (p=0.009) between posture and pain. There was no significant association between pain and gender (p=0.19).
Conclusion: The current study concluded that ophthalmologists suffered from neck pain as a highly common problem and these problems were also affected by posture.
