The purpose of this study is to determine the usefulness of computed tomography in demonstrating numerous benign and malignant lesions that may affect the trachea primarily or secondarily. The characteristics of imaging features and the extent of spread of these unusual lesions can be recognized on cross-sectional imaging. In this article, we describe the typical imaging appearance of the various tracheal lesions and discuss the role of Multidetector Computed tomography in enhancing the diagnostic value of the various tracheal lesions in clinical practice.

Key words: Endobronchial airway, tracheal stenosis, saber sheath trachea, tracheopathia osteochondroplastica, adenoid cystic carcinoma, fibrosing mediastinitis, tracheomalacia, and tracheobronchial papillomatosis
