Personality Characteristics of Teacher Candidate Students

Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe the personality characteristics of teacher candidates who are currently enrolled in the pedagogical formation program. Being in survey (single screening) model and descriptive quality, the study was carried out with 134 pre-service teachers. Data of the study were collected using Hacettepe Personality Inventory (HKE) which was prepared and developed by Özgüven (1992). Some results obtained from the study are as follows: It was discovered that two-thirds of the sample group were maladaptive in at least one sub-scale, one-fifths of sample group were maladaptive in four or more sub-scales. Having adaptation problems in four and more sub-scales shows that these people have psycho-socialization disorder.
