Investigating Teacher Candidates’ Opinions Related to ScenarioBased Learning: An Action Research

Abstract

This study is performed in order to find out the opinions of science teacher candidates on scenario-based learning (SBL). The research question is as follows: What are science teacher candidates’ opinions on SBL before and after the applications? Six teacher candidates contributed to the research which was performed in 2008-2009 educational year. The research process was planned as action research. Teacher candidates were presented seminars about SBL and they wrote the scenarios in the fall semester. The scenarios were applied in the spring semester. Semi-constructed interviews were conducted before and after the applications. The candidates had changes in opinions about ‘contribution of SBL to the teacher and students’, ‘problems and solution in application’, ‘considerations for the preparation phase’, ‘methods and techniques to be used with SBL’ and ‘interaction with teacher and students’.
