Roles and Ethical Responsibilities of Teachers and School Principals in Educational Testing Process

Abstract

The rules defining personal, organizational and corporate responsibilities expected of professionals and the behaviors that may violate the obligations of the members of a profession to the public are called the standards of professional ethics. Accomplishing an instruction-based profession, the educators’ being aware of their ethical responsibilities and their effort in implementing them directly affects the quality of education. Due to its critical role of being the controller component of education system, dealing educational ethics in the concept of measurement and assessment practices is considerable. Thus, this paper discusses ethical standards in educational testing process and the roles and responsibilities of teachers and school principals in test preparation, test administration, test scoring and interpretation of the test results.
