The factors affecting 5th grade students’ attitudes towards performance tasks

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the factors affecting 5th grade students’ attitudes towards
performance tasks. The sample of the research consists of 421 5th grade students from 10 different schools. Data
were analyzed using statistical techniques. The results of the study showed that the significant predictors of
students’ attitudes towards performance tasks were the availability of gymnasium in the schools, teachers'
assessing performance tasks in collaboration with students, determination of the content of the performance tasks
only by teachers, academic achievement of students, students’ taking advantage of different textbooks in
performance tasks, students’ making use of computer in performance tasks, teacher gender, determination of the
content of the performance tasks by the students, education level of students’ fathers (primary-school-graduate
fathers), students’ having 75-100 books at home.
