Analysis of Elementary Mathematics Curriculum Evaluation Studies

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to systematically investigate the studies on the evaluation of primary school
mathematics teaching program which has been in practice in Turkish National Educational System since 2004-2005 educational
year in terms of several variables. Based on 53 studies examined, it was found that a great number of studies aiming at the
evaluation of mathematics teaching program were carried out within the scope of mastersÂ’ theses. Similarly, it could be stated that
significant part of the studies was carried out by means of general survey design, quantitative methods and questionnaire style
data collection tools, and they aimed at gathering views; and the samplings of the studies were mostly composed of teachers. In
the conclusion of this study, recommendations for further studies were presented considering the distribution of studies according
to variables such as their purpose, publication type, research design and the data collection tools and taking the generalized
findings obtained in these studies into account.
