The Validity and Reliability for the Adolescents’ Attitudes toward Violence Scale

Abstract

The aim of this study was to develop an attitude scale towards physical violence for adolescents in high schools and universities. 583 high school and university students aged 14-21 in Ankara participated in this study. The mean age average of the students was 16.71 “Adolescents’ Attitudes’ Towards Violence Scale (ATVS)” is a 10 item Likert type scale. Exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis was used for validity and the results of the factor analysis indicated that the scale explains 43,826 % of the total variance. The Goodness of fit statistics were sufficient for the scale For reliability Cronbach Alpha coefficient was 0.85. Findings indicated that the ATVS was a valid and reliable scale.
