Learning Preferences of English Teacher Certificates Program Student’s

Abstract

It is important to determine preferences of students based on learning styles. If these
students are teacher candidates, their preferences become even more important. To be an effective
instructor it is necessary to know preferences of his/her own and students’. When instructional design is
conducted according to these preferences, quality of instruction increases. In this study learning
preferences of English teacher candidates were determined. As a result, it has been found that English
teacher candidates have the highest average on environmental stimulus. Emotional, physical, and
sociological stimuli come after the environmental stimulus respectively. A preference toward
psychological stimulus is found in low level being compared with the other stimuli.
