The Reading Habit of Elementary School Teacher Candidates

Elementary school teachers have important roles on their students acquiring reading habit. It is expected from teachers to acquire this habit in order to be a good model for their students. This study had been tried to determine the regarding habit on teachers candidates who are attending Elementary School Education Department, Faculty of Education at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. According to the results of the study, development of reading habit of the teacher candidates is found insufficient. Reasons are indicated finding as family, educational background, economic status, radio – television, frequency of internet usage and etc. This habit should be improved by various activities in order to reach desired level.
