In this study, it was examined and discussed some methods which assess problem solving skills. The study includes two parts. In the first part, the importance of problem solving and gaining it to the students is explained. In the second part, from the alternative methods such as, standard tests, performance assessments, essay questions and clinical interviews in which problem solving skills are evaluated, are discussed in depth and potentials of these methods, mostly of the clinical interview methods are discussed. The study finished with a sample clinical interview project and some directions to be taken into consideration were sequenced.
