Abstract:
Introduction: Laghu Malini Vasanta Rasa (LMVR) is traditionally indicated in Jeerna Jwara and has shown potential in managing Madhumeha (Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus). Mardana Samskara, akin to Bhavana (trituration), is believed to enhance therapeutic efficacy. Aim: To assess whether Mardana Samskara improves LMVR's efficacy in Madhumeha. Methods: Two LMVR samples, identical in composition but differing in Mardana Samskara, were administered (250 mg, twice daily) for eight weeks to 116 randomized patients. Efficacy was evaluated based on symptomatic relief and changes in fasting blood sugar (FBS) and postprandial blood sugar (PPBS) levels. Results: Both formulations improved glycemic control and symptoms (p0.05). However LMVR with Mardana Samskara showed superior efficacy, particularly in subjective parameters (Principle component analysis and coefficient of variation test ). Conclusion: Mardana Samskara enhances LMVR’s therapeutic potential, providing better symptomatic relief and glycemic control in Madhumeha.

Key words: Laghu Malini Vasanta Rasa, Mardana Samskara, Madhumeha, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, glycemic control
