Results of Surgical Treatment ot Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms

Abstract
Abdominal aortic aneurysm is known asa fatal pathologic process. Early attempts to prevent rupture of aneurysm included ligation, wrapping or electrothermic coagulation of the aneurysmal sac to induce trombosis. Dubost in 1951 operated a case with abdominal aortic aneurysm and replaced an aortic homograft with success.
Between the dates of February 1985-February 1994, 63 cases with abdominal aortic aneurysm have been operated in Cardiovascular Clinic at SSK Ankara Hospital. 6 cases (% 9.5) were ruptured aneurysms. Mortality is% 6.3 with 4 cases.
