Abstract
Obturatory canal bypass is a radical alternative of conservative methods in the treatment of femoral area graft infection which is one of the important problems of vascular surgery.
In our clinic obturatory canal bypass is performed in five femoral area infections of which 3 were developed following aortabifemoral grafting, 1 iliofemoral grafting and 1 recurrent femoral trombectomy. Of these 3 were operated under emergenceny conditions and 2 were operated under elective conditions. One patient died in postoperative early period due to heparin induced trombocytopenia and acute renal insufficiency. During 14-60 months follow up of 4 cases, we know that grafts are patent and there are no ischemic changes of extremities.
Obturatory canal bypass technique is a life and exremity saving method that every one who is interested in vascular surgery should know.
