Infodemic vs Pandemic: Role of social media

Abstract

Covid-19 turned out to be sui generis of the 21st century; in the intervening time medical sciences being at the front line are struggling to devise vaccines, effective treatment and modalities to curb the loss. The available resources claim social distancing, hand washing, coughing in sleeves and staying home to be the preventive measures. It has influenced almost everyone regardless of age, race, gender, socio economic status, infected or suspected. Current situation accompanying intolerance of uncertainty along pandemic, lead to higher vulnerability of the fundamental error while appraising situation.1 A study from Turkey reported that intolerance of uncertainty was not only related to mental well-being but was mediated by rumination and fear of COVID-19.2
