Abstract
Objectives: This study aims to compare the effects of spinal anesthesia and femoral nerve block and to determine the optimal anesthesia
method for embolization of vena saphena magna.
Patients and methods: Between December 2019 and March 2021, a total of 160 patients (89 males, 71 females; mean age: 44.4 years; range,
18 to 69 years) who were diagnosed with varicose veins and hospitalized for surgery in our cardiovascular surgery clinic were included. The patients were divided into two groups. The first group (Group S, n=80) underwent spinal anesthesia and the second group (Group F, n=80)
underwent femoral nerve block for the surgical operation.
