The study was designed to provide information on some semen characteristics of Uda ram, in Maiduguri, Nigeria. Six matured Uda rams, aged 2-3 years and weighing 40– 45 kg were used for the study. Semen was collected twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays) for 8 weeks, using an electro-ejaculator. The semen volume, individual progressive motility, sperm concentration, percentage livability and total sperm abnormality were evaluated and the average values were 1.3 ± 0.2 mls, 80.10 ± 1.5 %, 3.21 x109/mL, 74.24 ± 1.2 % and 8.10 ±0.3 % respectively. These findings provide baseline information for Uda ram semen extension and preservation studies.
