Marriage and Parenthood in Female Psychiatrie Patients: A Review

Abstract
In this article, gender dıfferences in schizophrenia and mood disorders are reviewed in the context of female patients" marital status and parenting skills. In major psychiatric disorders -particularly in schizophrenia- the rate of being singlel divorced/ separated is frequently high compared to normal population. Also these patients, lacking the necessary parenting skills in various extent, tend to rely on close relatives and institutions for childrearing.
