In the study performed for the purpose of stating deaths occuring in 2003 in Nilüfer district, Bursa and evaluating the deaths in respect of setting (ICD 10) with the List of Brief General Death, 555 deaths in the recording of Nilüfer Municipality were investigated.
According to the results, three causes of deaths were heart failure (14,6 %), traffic accident (12,3) and cancers (%9,5). These causes in respect of ICD 10 the List of Brief General Death were other heart diseases (15,5%), symptoms or cases which is not defined clearly (13,7%) and transportation accidents (12,3%).
When the death reasons existed in recordings compared with the that of ICD 10 the List of Brief General Death, it was established that while 367 death reasons (66,1%) were compatible, 188 reasons (33,9 %) were uncompatible. The number of reports have reasons which were not death causes actually was % 33,5. In order to establish the causes of death exactly and truly, this subject should be emphasized in the training intended for doctors and medicine students.
