Low-cost simulation technique in planning and preparing perioperative team for conjoined twins separation surgery

Abstract

Conjoined twins separation surgery poses many challenges due to the variable degree of cross circulation, difficulty in positioning, bleeding and limitations of space for sharing between two perioperative teams. Anaesthesia and surgery both requires intense planning and preparation for successful outcome. Simulation is a proven and powerful tool for learning in healthcare at the individual level and team-based practice. We present here about low cost simulation technique to train perioperative team involved in the conjoined twin separation surgery
