Bilateral Keratomalacia in a Patient with Vitamin A Deficiency: A Case Report

Keratomalacia refers to an ocular destructive dryness of cornea that results from severe vitamin A deficiency. It is an ocular condition, usually affecting both eyes. It affects infants, children and women at reproductive age group. In developing countries, vitamin A deficiency in the diet and associated keratomalacia are a major cause of childhood blindness. Here we describe the case of two-year-old female child presenting with bilateral keratomalacia due to severe vitamin A deficiency in diet.
