Emphysematous Pyelonephritis

Abstract


Emphysematous pyelonephritis is a life-threatening, necrotizing infection of renal parenchyma and

perirenal tissues caused by gas-forming organisms.

Aim: We discussed ethiyopathogenesis, radiological and clinical signs and treatment of emphysematous

pyelonephritis in this review article.

Conclusion: Emphysematous pyelonephritis is a life-threatening infection that should always be

considered in the differential diagnosis for a diabetic patient with abdominal pain or suspected

pyelonephritis.
