Abstract

Totally 33 Bacillus strains were isolated and named from 195 raw milk samples which were obtained from

various milk companies. The inhibitory effects of 13 Bacillus strains against Staphylococcus aureus which was

found to be contaminant in the same medium of Bacillus strains were studied by using well diffusion

method in BHI Agar supplemented with %4, %4.5, %5, %5.5, %6 and %6.5 concentrations of NaCl.

Result of this study revealed that only Bacillus lentus-I and Bacillus lentus-II were observed to make

inhibitory effect against Staphylococcus aureus in BHI medium added with %4, %4.5, %5 and %5.5

concentrations of NaCl. The inhibition zone diameters of Bacillus inhibitory effects were showed to

increase in addition to salt concentration, gradually. But in %6 and %6.5 salt concentration, the inhibitory

effects were not observed against Staphylococcus aureus.

Key Words: Bacillus, Stapylococcus aureus, NaCl, Inhibitory effects.
